Image Converter
This tool converts, compresses and resizes images entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — your files are never uploaded to a server. Drop up to 20 images, choose an output format, quality, or exact pixel size, then download each result. Because the work happens on your device, it is private and works even offline once the page has loaded.
Supported formats
- Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and ICO are decoded by all modern browsers. Animated GIFs convert their first frame. HEIC and TIFF only decode on browsers that support them (for example Safari for HEIC); on other browsers those files are skipped with a clear message rather than a wrong result.
- Output: JPG, PNG and WebP everywhere; AVIF only where your browser can truly encode it, so the AVIF button appears only when it will produce a real AVIF file (most browsers can view AVIF but not create it). JPG and WebP use the quality slider; PNG is lossless, so the slider is disabled for it.
Converter, Compressor & Resizer
- Converter: Change an image from one format to another — for example PNG to WebP or HEIC to JPG — keeping quality high.
- Compressor: Reduce file size by re-encoding at a lower quality (WebP gives the smallest files) and optionally limiting the width. Each result shows how much you saved.
- Resizer: Resize as many as 20 images to one exact width and height with Same size, which crops edges instead of stretching the image. Choose Fit inside to preserve the whole image, or use Edit to draw a different free crop for any individual image.
Tips
- Use WebP or AVIF for the web — they are far smaller than JPG or PNG at the same quality.
- Set a Max width to shrink oversized photos to the size they are actually displayed.
- Converting to JPG flattens transparency onto a white background.
Image Converter FAQ
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion and compression run entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, so the tool is safe for private or unpublished photos.
Why can't it convert my HEIC or TIFF file?
Browsers can only convert formats they can decode. Chrome and Firefox do not decode HEIC or TIFF, so those files are skipped with a message. Safari can decode HEIC. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and ICO work everywhere.
Which format should I choose?
For the web, WebP or AVIF give the smallest files at good quality. Use JPG for broad compatibility with photos, and PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency.
Can I resize many images to exactly the same dimensions?
Yes. Add up to 20 images, enter one width and height, and choose Same size. Every output uses that exact canvas size without stretching; the tool crops the excess from the center unless you choose a custom crop with Edit.
Can I crop each image separately?
Yes. Select Edit beneath any thumbnail, drag a free crop area, and apply it. The crop is saved only for that image, while the batch still exports at the shared target size.
How many images can I process at once?
Up to 20 files per batch. Each is processed on your device and offered as an individual download, or all at once with Download all.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. This generator runs fully client-side in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, so it is safe to use on private content.
Is it really free?
Yes, with no account. A Novaverb workspace is only needed when you want to verify, monitor, and track these files on your live site over time.
